Specimens of Abstraction is a body of work in which glass as a material and its movement through process is investigated. Each of the twelve pieces are an attempt to create a new artistic voice within the material . Containing lines of coloured glass each piece maps the movement which has occurred when in flux, a frozen expression or moment in time. This organic liner structure which forms the base of the work is then framed within the thin angular walls of thinly blown crystal glass.

The objects show clear reference to the scientific, while still remaining autonomous in themselves. The work pointing towards the design objects of the future where function, craft, science and art all come together in a perfect harmonious fusion within the object.
